Songs on my Heart

These are some songs swirling around in my heart and head right now. Wanted to write them down to get the lyrics out in front of me.

My Eyes Are Dry
My eyes are dry
My faith is old
My heart is hard
My prayers are cold
And I know how I ought to be
Alive to You and dead to me

What can be done with an old heart like mine?
Soften it up with oil and wine
The oil is You, Your Spirit of love
Please wash me anew, in the wine of Your Blood

Light The Fire
I stand to praise You
But I fall on my knees
My spirit is hungry
But my flesh is so weak

Light the fire (Light the fire)
In my soul (In my weary soul)
Fan the flame (Fan the flame)
Make me whole (Make my spirit whole)
Lord, You know (Lord, You know)
Where I've been (Where I've been)
So light the fire in my heart again

I feel Your arms around me
As the power of Your healing begins
You breathe new life right through me
Like a mighty rushing wind

Create In Me
Create in me a clean heart, O God
And renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God
And renew a right spirit within me

Cast me not away from Thy presence O Lord
And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of my salvation
And renew a right spirit within me

  1. Laura, My Eyes are Dry is a song I remember my brother singing. I love being reminded of his passion for the King. He is with the King now, not worrying about anything and singing praise to the King to his heart's content! So glad you're on this journey. God will fill your life with wonderful surprises to delight you, my friend. He will always be there when times are rough. You know all this, of course, but now you'll be looking even more carefully for His presence!

  2. I don't know you but found your blog while I was looking for the lyrics for "My Eyes are Dry". I'm giving a talk at a ladies retreat next weekend and am using this song as well as "Light the Fire". I thought you might like to know that someone else has these lyrics on her heart, too. Small world in the body of Christ...
